Which infants and children with bronchiolitis should be admited?

  • Look ill ... a no brainer
  • At risk for apnea - history of apnea witnessed by parent or clinician, < 1 month if full term, < 48 weeks postmenstrual age if born at < 37 weeks gestation
  • At risk for quickly worsening disease - chronic pulmonary disease, hemodynamically significant congenital heart disease, immunodeficiency, neurologic disease
