- bowel perforation
- splenic injury
- bowel obstruction
All these etiologies will be picked up on abdominal CT scan. But what if the scan is negative ... what can be causing the pain in this situation?
- postpolypectomy coagulation syndrome - caused by electrosurgical burn to bowel mucosa. Can result in fever, leukocytosis and localized abdominal pain. Management depends on severity of symptoms ranging from oral antibiotics for mild symptoms to IV antibiotics and bowel rest for those that are more severe.
