What is mesenteric lymphadenitis?

Enlargement of lymphnodes in the mesentery. Often presents similarly to appendicitis but appendix appears normal on CT while mesenteric lymphnodes appear enlarged. Numerous causative agents have been implicated including viral, bacterial, parasitic and fungal infections. Symptoms often self limited.
