Does this patient have endophthalmitis?

Endopthalmitis is defined as purulent inflammation of the intraocular tissues. It is most commonly caused by ocular surgery but can also be seen in response to infection (both exogenous or endogenous), trauma, immune reaction, vasculitis or neoplasm. It is an ophthalmic emergency which must be emergently treated to avoid vision loss.

Signs and Symptoms:
  • pain
  • conjunctival chemosis
  • lid edema
  • hyperemia
  • decreased visual acuity
  • corneal edema
  • anterior chamber reaction
